Tony Lynch races what you might recognise as an HSR Vauxhall Chevette which was manufactured in the UK from 1975-1983 and campaigned by DTV (dealer team vauxhall).

Tony's isn't actually a genuine car, but a fantastically built replica which his business (Lynchbuilt Performance Products) has put together in his factory in Dairy Flat.

The car has been built as per Blydenstein's manual, which Tony hasn't taken too literally, and made a few of his own improvements.

The car is putting out a reliable 250hp with help of the Lotus Esprit turbo 2.3 block with JE forged pistons, and Carrillo rods (supplied by Engine Parts Ltd), and is fed through a Lotus twin cam head, which has been flowed to perfection by Lynn Rogers, using the help of a pair of Lotus L1 Cam's.

To feed the beast, there is a pair of rare 48DCOE weber's hanging off the side (as supplied by weber specialties) and its extracted by a set of 4 into 2 into 1 mandrel bent equal length "Lynchbuilt" headers.

Without giving away too many secrets, a Quartermaster twin plate clutch (kindly supplied by Neil at Autoclutch) transfers the drive through a Supra 5 speed to a Toyota Hiace diff.

The Chevette currently laps Pukekohe in 1.12's regularly, and is one of the most amazing pieces of engineering you will see at the race track.
