Were you around back in 1973 when the number 9 car of Allan Moffat & Ian Geoghan took the win at Bathurst in the magnificent
XAGT Ford Falcon Coupe ?
If so, then you will definitely be a fan of the fantastic replica car that Paul Urquhart of North Shore Compliance has built.
(Paul is also your man if you have imported a car and need it complied - see www.coventry.co.nz).
This car started out as a rusty old XA falcon shell that Paul searched long and wide to find, and boy did he find some decidedly average cars in the process. He then had it acid dipped in Rotorua, then the panelwork began.
Paul has spent alot of time making sure that this car is one of the most competitive Ford's racing in Central Muscle Car this season.
The car runs a 351 Cleveland V8 stroked to 383 c.i.
The rods & crank are Eagle chromoly forged steel items, and the pistons are JE forged flat tops, which live at home
in a factory cast iron Cleveland block.
The heads are unported small chamber CHI 3V's which flow fantastic numbers, and the air & fuel is fed through them via a CHI manifold, and an 850cfm Quickfuel carb. The camshaft is of the flat tappet Comp Cam's variety with more lift than a hungarian weightlifter.
Helping the 600hp produced by the Clevo V8 through to the tarmac, Paul chose a T10 gearbox housing, with Roltek internals, and the well capable Ford 9" diff.
One thing you should take special note on is that Paul had the wheels on this car custom made to resemble the wheels that Allan Moffat ran on the original Bathurst winning car.
Pauls first race meeting at Pukekohe with the new engine in this car saw him doing 65's with more to come with a few
minor suspension tweaks.
